About Us

Evergreen Counseling was founded in 2018 by Priscilla Dean, MS, LCPC.

Evergreen Counseling is a private practice located in Wheaton, IL. Our goal is to create a warm and gentle space for our clients to explore life guided by our trauma informed therapists, and find more joy in their every day life.

Read our Mission & Values.

  • We exist because we believe healing from trauma is possible.

We exist to provide a safe space and a safe therapeutic relationship for any and all kinds of humans, with any and all kinds of suffering. Prejudice has no place here. We acknowledge our privilege, and take responsibility for how our privilege often blinds us to others’ suffering. We affirm love in all its forms, and reject hate in all its forms.

  • We believe in human resiliency.

When given the proper support and care - people can thrive despite difficult experiences. Our counselors are confident in their clients’ ability to heal, grow, and achieve lasting happiness in the wake of adversity.

We believe in the power of relationships in healing pain.

Deeply painful experiences often leave people feeling alone and isolated. Healthy relationships can ease the suffering of difficult times. Our counselors fully support the involvement of loved ones in the process of therapy whenever needed. Healing cannot occur in isolation.

We believe that “it’s OKAY to not be OKAY”.

Therapy does have an end goal in mind - positive change. But it’s very important to allow “bad” feelings, admit vulnerabilities, tell sad stories, and say “I’m not OK” while working toward positive outcomes. The path toward growth is not always a straight line, and it’s completely acceptable to admit when you’re tired and overwhelmed. Strength is not found in denying pain or vulnerabilities.

We believe our actions can speak louder than words.

In addition to being trained and educated - our therapists have “walked the walk”. We believe that therapy works because all of our staff have all chosen to do the hard work of self-reflection for ourselves. We are learners as well as healers. We believe that wounded healers offer the best compassion and guidance. And as a result, our clients benefit by working with a person who knows from experience all of the challenges and joys of the process of therapy. A healthy and humble therapist is someone you can trust to honor your story, remain objective, and provide wisdom at the right times.
