Taylor French, LCPC
Emotions, even the uncomfortable ones, are a necessary part of being a human. We often want to run away from these uncomfortable emotions to avoid pain, but I believe that by learning to sit with them, explore them, and validate them, we can find healing. In order to explore emotions that we feel avoidant about, we need a safe space and—even more important, a safe relationship. This is why I aim to create a relaxed environment where you can feel comfortable exploring whatever it is you are experiencing inside yourself.
I use a gentle and patient approach with my clients. We often use humor and sarcasm to create a more relaxed space. You may or may not be aware of it, but you have internal strengths you have been using to cope already! Together we will explore your natural strengths in more depth so you can feel confident in your ability to navigate the feelings you may otherwise want to avoid.
Additionally,, I have a deep compassion for working with clients who have experienced trauma. I have experience working with all ages of clients who have experienced trauma: adults, teens and children.
Lastly, I work a great deal with people coping with the everyday stressors that include anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties. When working with children or teenagers, I find it important to also support parents as they do the important work of supporting their child’s mental health.
My hope for you is that you can leave each session with me feeling heard, validated, and empowered, as you take that into your everyday life outside of our sessions.
ABOUT ME
Outside of counseling I love spending time with my family and friends and of course, snuggling with my pets! Creating memories and laughing with the people (and pets) I love is what keeps me grounded. One of my favorite forms of self-care is cooking or baking so often these memories involve sharing this yummy food with my loved ones to all enjoy together over good conversation. I would consider myself a homebody, so I enjoy the small, day-to-day moments with family and friends and can find comfort in the mundane. I’m happy to cozy up with a nice comedy or a good book!
