HEATHER HAWTHORNE, LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Choosing to come to therapy is a brave decision, and it is my goal to walk closely alongside you as we navigate life's challenges together. You can expect that I will meet you in whatever place you are with sensitivity and empathy. Building a trusting relationship in order to create a safe and positive environment is one of my top priorities in order to make this a helpful experience for you.

I have a special interest in women's reproductive mental health including the specific challenges that women and their partners face when struggling with infertility, prenatal, or perinatal issues. In addition, I enjoy working with people going through life transitions, as well as high-functioning adults who experienced emotional neglect as children.

I’ve found working with the parts of ourselves that we try not to examine to be extremely healing, both personally and professionally. Taking the time to be compassionate to the parts that we try to push aside helps us to find true freedom. I also love using the Enneagram as a tool for greater self-discovery.

I consider it a great privilege to hold hope for people as we walk together towards greater healing and wholeness. I look forward to starting this process with you!

ABOUT ME:

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me playing with and learning alongside my two young kids, who my husband and I had through IVF. My kids help me stay present in the moment and point out the simple beauty in the world. I love strong cups of coffee, settling into a good book, walks in nature, cooking in my kitchen, and getting lost in new places.

Ram Dass said, “We’re all just walking each other home,” and this has shaped the way that I see people and relationships. None of us has life figured out, but I believe that it is part of our sacred duty as people to care for each other, with special attention to those who are systemically oppressed. Therapy is a way to work towards the people we were created to be, and each step along the way is well worth it.
